What could climate instability mean to you?

Episode 101 with Spencer Glendon

Since humans began settling down and building civilizations 10,000 years ago, the Earth's climate has been relatively stable. But before that, the climate was more unstable - unpredictable - and humans were nomads, forced to move around constantly to find food and shelter. Today, global average temperatures are higher than they have ever been since humans started to organize into agricultural communities, and climate instability has returned. What will this mean for our future? How resilient are human institutions that have developed over thousands of years, underpinned by a stable, predictable climate?

This week, Dr. Spencer Glendon of Probable Futures and former Head of Research at the investment firm Wellington Management joins Climate Now to discuss how we should plan for a future in which the assumptions that humans have taken for granted for millennia no longer hold.
